You’re told that an event that’s dear to your heart — an annual fair, festival, or conference — will be cancelled forever (or taken over by an evil organization). Write about it. For your twist, read your piece aloud, multiple times. Hone that voice of yours!
It has happened. No one thought it could happen here in America. But it has. What happened to religious freedom? Its lost. Gone. Silenced by those in authority in the name of tolerance.
Tolerance. Spoken by those who choose to remain politically correct and in good standing with the authority. By those who are not Christian. To be sure, Christians are very tolerant and loving. Most of them anyways. Some have chosen to not. Isn’t that always the way? Most choose to walk as Jesus walked, in Love. Others choose to walk in hatred and anger, saying they are like Jesus.
Those are the ones that are called then the voices of Christianity. “We must shut them down and close the churches”. “They can no longer meet together”. This was the call of the Authority. The media and the Authority focused on those few angry Christians so they could get their laws and rules passed.
Now, we who do walk in love and tolerance and help those around us must meet quietly, secretly in homes. In fear of punishment. But our desire to Love and work for each other and for others over rides that fear.
We learn of a family, punished for holding meetings in their home, banished to a prison camp. Where they are treated poorly by the others held there. There are other families there for the same reason, but most of the camp is made up of criminals there for other reasons. The entire family is in this prison camp. In one cell. There is little food here in this camp and few blankets for the cold nights. We pray for them and send them what we can.
So much for justice in this day and age. It seems that now, 2018, all justice is gone. True Justice has been gone for a very long time. Our churches, organizations, missions are all wiped out now. Nothing is left, on the surface. Underground however, secretly, things are happening all over America, even the world.
The Church is still the church. They can’t break our hearts which is where the church really is. They sure try and many do fall apart. But the church is people. The church is inside our hearts. They can’t and don’t understand. They can tell us we can’t meet together, but they can’t tell us how to think, feel and believe. Those in Authority certainly try and have tried. The Church is Jesus Christ who died for our sins. Whom we love and believe in with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength.
We believe in His death and resurrection. We believe that God sent Him to die for us.
Its not about a building or an organization. Its about us- each of us- who believe in Him. Those in authority do not understand.
And so we continue, secretly. Facing prisons, abuse, loss of jobs, even the possibility of death. Here in America. The land of the free, home of the brave.
Unless you are a Christian.
