Fall Pictures

I thought it would be fun to post some pretty pictures from around the “ranch”.  I love the colors of fall!

While wandering around the yard today, we picked a bushel of apples from the trees.  I have done nothing to the trees at all so they are not pretty looking.  I am hoping to get enough to at least make an apple treat and maybe some applesauce.   We picked a bucketful of beautiful little, but the biggest ones on our property,  to make some crab-apple jelly.  I seem to recall my mom making that when we were little so I thought I would maybe try it.  20141001_151712

I also found the rose hips are in abundance this year!  I will pick them after we get a good hard frost and dehydrate them. I used them last winter in tea for anyone who might be getting sick and it seemed to help.  They are loaded with vitamin C.

Lastly, I have TONS of grapes on the vines at the old house.  I will pick them in the next week or so to make grape jam and juice.  YUM!!  Concord grapes make the BEST jam!

Enjoy the pictures.
