An Update on My Current Job as Horse Keeper..

So far, no one has died.  Though, each time one is laying out flat sunning himself, I think, “it’s dead.  How am I going to tell her that her horse died while I was taking care of them?”  Not, “Oh look, they are sunning themselves.” or “They look so sweet laid out like that!”

Every. Single. Time.

I don’t know why.

Then, this past weekend, I noticed one had pretty severe diarrhea.  Yay..  So I got a little anxious, but not too bad as I know he is already on some supplements to help clear up whatever problem he has going on.  This is an ongoing problem with him.  Her friend, who did actually answer the text message LONG before Horse Daughter did, asked me if he had a fever.

UMMM… When I felt his forehead, he seemed fine to me.  No I am checking any more than that either!! No cough, no nasal discharge.

The next suggestion, give him some electrolytes.  Ok.. No problem.  What are electrolytes for horses anyway??  I know that for the kids, Gatorade or Pedialyte will work.  It doesn’t seem like the same thing.  She should have some on hand was the reply.

Ok..  So I went out the the feed room where she keeps all her stuff and by now am relating the events to a friend on the phone, who does not have horses.  I am not really sure why, but we were giggling quite a bit over this whole thing!  She started out very sympathetic, but it kind of just snowballed from there.  I told her a few of the other things that have happened over the last couple of weeks.  You can’t help but giggle about some of them!

In the tack room cabinet, behind some other things, I found my PAMPERED CHEF (expensive and I have been wondering what happened to it for quite a long time now) mini measuring cup!!  And that folks, is why I went to the dollar store and bought her sets of measuring cups and measuring spoons.   I wanted ALL my stuff back.  A good wash in the dishwasher and it is good to go.

But no Gatorade, Pedialyte or electrolytes for horses.  I will have to talk to her about having some on hand when she gets back.

Finally, Horse Daughter texts back.  Up one of his supplements.  Keep an eye on him.  He will be just fine.  This is the problem with him.  He does this for no apparent reason.

Well okay then.. Just trying to do my job here.

Blessings,

Vicki
