Yea.. I know.. 2 posts in one week??!! Crazy, right??!!
It has been kind of a busy, month. It is time to get outside and get all those projects going that we talked about doing for the last 4 months!! Not only that, but we are finishing up our school year, our Spotlight and Y classes, and doing a Musical.
You know about the chicks and chickens. I have written about them many times. Just take a few moments on my blog to find those. (At least I hope it will only take a few minutes. I changed things around not too long ago and I am not entirely sure it all works the way it is supposed to!! Tell me if it doesn’t!!)
But you probably don’t know much about the Spotlight Christian Youth Theater program we have been a part of for a little over a year now. I haven’t said much about it, but I would have to say, its changed our lives!!! I cannot say enough good about this program and the women who lead it. Martha is the woman who runs the show part of it. She takes care of making sure every show runs perfectly!! Or at least makes it look like it is!! Lori runs the classes end of it. She is the amazing woman who started this program in our area 5 years ago.
These 2 women totally amaze me..
They are so encouraging and fun to work with. These women are the epitome of Proverbs 31. They work hard and make sure everyone has what they need, are where they need to be and do it with an encouraging word and smile. They set the tone for the entire program and cultivate a culture of honor amongst all who work with them. These ladies have the respect of all who work with them.
I have been a Christian for some time, much of the last few years, a struggling Christian and I love that we have found this program. Here, we have people who are walking the walk and talking the talk. They are people who are stepping up to do so much! We have people who teach the classes, lead the kids worship team, and help in any way possible. We have an army of volunteer parents who do everything from supervising kids to running the sound for the shows to costuming to prayer. Each of the people I have met have impacted me in some positive way. (Hubby and kids as well!)
We all come away from each event tired and worn out, but also encouraged and uplifted! The people we have come into contact with have encouraged us in some way and helped us to do better. I often think of the verse:
Hebrews 10:24Amplified Bible (AMP). 24 and let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, (courtesy Biblegateway.com)
After spending exhausting amounts of time with this group during a show week and weekend, this is how I feel; encouraged and built up!
Isn’t that how we SHOULD be doing things?? Since we have begun these classes, we have gone from fighting continually, and having a very poor relationship with our 17 year old, to having a GOOD relationship! I seriously balled my eyes out on the way home from the first show we completed together! I could not believe the transformation I was seeing. The previous fall, he and I had a huge fight. HUGE. It was ugly and we had been on poor terms before it and struggling to get along and find that connection for months even after it. Over the winter we were introduced to this group and he ended up getting one of the main parts in that spring’s show, “Tom Sawyer”. I saw such a huge transformation in this child, I could not believe it! We were connecting! Finally!
This school year of classes and shows has only gotten us closer together to the point where, after this last show, this same child that I could not get to do ANYTHING I asked him to do, completely on his own, cleaned all 3 bathrooms, got his siblings outside to start mowing the grass and has stepped up to help wherever I have needed him this week.
The others have been doing classes, one did a show earlier this year, and all three helped out at this last show in various ways. Almost all of them have cried or at least mourned the loss of the friends they made last weekend. Yes, they will see them again at other events and shows, but it will be a while and that is what they are sad about. For me, I am thankful for the changes for the better I have seen in my family relationships. When we started this, I had no idea that God was answering this Momma’s heart cry. Now, after a year, I see very clearly that God had indeed answered my prayers!
How has God answered your prayers lately? How has God surprised you?
